You know summer has officially arrived when the sweet smell of flowers fills the air. Allegra's business, The Petal Peddler's Shop, turns book paper into beautiful customized flower arrangements, perfect for any summer event. Read on for Allegra's take on dressing for a summer garden party event.
"I volunteer with three nonprofits in my community, including my local library. I was helping the library plan a Jane Austen-themed tea event in 2017 and offered to create flowers from upcycled book pages as centerpieces. The flowers were so well-received at the event that I was inspired to open The Petal Peddler’s Shop. Since opening The Shop, I’ve handcrafted over 700 flowers from unique papers like upcycled book pages, sheet music, maps, menus, kids’ artwork, newspapers and more.
I would wear this to a garden party. It's so light and breezy and comfortable and still looks dressy.
During the summer, many events I attend are outdoors so I like to wear dresses made from breathable fabrics. I love timeless and elegant styles (like the LBD) that allow me to accessorize with a bold colored shoe or amazing statement jewelry.
I love old movies, so my “dream garden party” attire would be the iconic black and white gown worn by Audrey Hepburn in the movie “Sabrina.” Even 65 years after the movie debuted, the dress she wore to the garden party is still absolutely breathtaking."
