What is modal fabric? It's a type of rayon made from very high-quality cellulose, sometimes used on its own and sometimes combined with other fabrics like spandex or cotton. It is known for being quite soft and durable, standing up to warm tumble drying with less pilling because of its superior cellular structure (lower friction of the surface layer). There are two main types of modal fabric, polynosics and HWM (high wet maintenance). Polynosics tend to be wrinkle-free, while HWM modals are actually stronger when wet. Ash & Rose modal fabrics are typically combined with other materials, making them polynosic, as well as beautiful and low-maintenance. The fabric blends are listed in product descriptions.
