Jocelyn Chemel is a Boston-based artist who has been using mixed media for many years. She attended the Mass College of Art and the Museum School, Boston.
She strives to create art that stretches the boundaries of the mediums used. Having been born in South Africa, and growing up there during the years of apartheid, she is sensitive to what lies beneath and what is not spoken.
Jocelyn donates art supplies to the township schools in Cape Town, South Africa, through Art on a Mission inspirational Artblocks.
Her love of textiles, patterns, beading, semi precious stones and shapes in nature inform her art.
She lives with her partner, her cockapoo and miniature orange trees in Newton.
