In 2002, mother-daughter duo Ann and Leslie Leroux decided they wanted to use fashion to change the way business was being done on the global marketplace. Inspired by the “Trade, Not Aid” slogan adopted by developing countries, they decided to build a fashion house that embodied Fair Trade practices from the ground up, from the raw materials through the manufacturing process. They would transmit skills and business know-how to working partners in developing countries and contribute to local communities. The garments would be created from organic materials cultivated without harm to the environment or the health of its inhabitants.
Behind each beautiful style is a model of eco and social responsibility that encompasses a whole range of business, trade, ecological, and environmental practices. As pioneers of a new economic system, Ethos Paris believes that we can bring about the change needed, by producing stylish, green, fashion-forward apparel, and raise consumer awareness about sustainability.
Most items in the Paris Ethos line are produced from 100% organic cotton. Zippers and snaps are nickel-free while buttons are made from seashell, wood or coconut shell. Ties and sashes as well as wrap-around styles are used extensively in Ethos designs to avoid complicated fastening devices.
